Recently, the Advanced Power Electronics Lab (APEL) at Kettering University partnered with HELLA, an automotive electronics company, to develop a compact vehicle charger that marks a big step forward in efficiency.
Dr. Laura Sullivan, a Kettering University Mechanical Engineering faculty member, has become a trusted community advocate and resource as well as a key technical advisor to state and local government. She used her expertise to help Politifact check facts during the Flint water emergency.
"What I can tell you is I firmly believe that the light is shining so brightly on the city of Flint right now, that if there were any entity that had any negative or malicious reason to slow things down, there's no way they could do that," Sullivan says.
Kettering University’s Dr. Uma Ramabadran and Dr. Gillian Ryan are helping with research for Warmilu, LLC, an advanced therapeutic warming technology start-up company in Ann Arbor, to continue improving a specific technology used to make non-electric heated blankets.
“It’s an opportunity for sons and daughters of the corporate partners to be admitted to Kettering University and receive some financial support in exchange for doing their co-op work.”
"This is an opportunity for the children of Lear and Delphi employees to come to Kettering and if they qualify, they get a Kettering education, guaranteed co-ops and they get guaranteed jobs upon graduation," said Kip Darcy, Kettering's vice president of marketing and communication.

The new home of the Kettering University Archives at GM’s Durant-Dort Factory One was officially announced May 1. The Archives feature rare artifacts from the formation of GM and represent one of the top collections of automotive history in the country. The Archives attract scholars from around the world to conduct research.
